When To Replace Your CPAP Mask

Like your CPAP machine or any other personal care items—toothbrushes, loofahs, you name it!—your CPAP mask needs to be replaced regularly. Not only is it good hygiene, but your mask degrades over time, which can compromise the effectiveness of your CPAP therapy. So, just how often should you replace it? We’re sharing everything you need to know.

Replace your CPAP mask every 6 months

Yes, you need to replace your CPAP mask every six months—sooner if your mask isn’t quite sealing to your face anymore. Between our facial oils, skincare products and pressure points, masks degrade over time. As your mask degrades, it breaks the seal with your face, which means the air pressure won’t be as reliable and your CPAP therapy won’t be as effective, if at all.

Insurance can help

If you’re worried about the expense of replacing your mask every six months, check out your health insurance coverage. The cost of replacing your CPAP supplies is typically covered by private insurance providers. Depending on the provider, you may be able to get your supplies reimbursed up to 100%!

Replace, recycle, repeat

If you’re more concerned about the environment than your pocketbook, you’ll be happy to hear about our new recycling program, Rest, Restore, Recycle, which converts your old CPAP supplies into 95% clean energy and 5% recyclable energy. So, even though you have to replace your mask and tubing regularly, you can save the environment from unnecessary waste by giving them a second life. Just book an appointment to drop off your used CPAP equipment at any participating Sleep Therapeutics clinic.
